Happy 54th Birthday Nigeria - CoperateStreetBoy*

My motherland and my mother have the date 1960 in common. So if july 31st made my mum 54, today, october 1st should also make Nigeria 54 years of age according to dates and so called facts.. I have continued to see my mum as aging, I have been seeing the grey hairs, so I haven't been at odd, to say my mum is quite old. With this said, it is safe to say Nigeria is gradually becoming an Old Fool since a fool at 40 could be a fool forever..
A BSC in public administration has made me a heavy reader of government related issues due to both academic responsibility and something else I tag psychological responsibility. Even in the days of tutoring me on the subject social studies, I can remember topics kept drifting my mind to the term "The Government" I could easily absorb details about "The Government", but I was more curious about the persons qualified to make up "The Government" because they didn't live up to an expectation that didn't leave the control of the affairs of Nigeria in an embarrassing manner.
Today I can say I have spent over 10 years of my life studying the government. I have figured out how the so called elections guarantee they are called "The Government" with different tiers of government working with the different arms of government in collaborations with organs, departments, ministries and sectors having their own functions under "The Government" so in my own little summary the government represented the so called legal people to control, decide and influence the activities determining the lives of the millions of people governed.
The government that has been in charge of nigeria for the past 54 years have not left this country a world power for us to be proud of, rather, our dear country has been plagued with instincts providing for hardship and inequality among the people. The land looks so barren, infrastructure facilities on the low, life satisfaction rate lower and any hope for a redemption seemingly on the lowest with every government regime feeding corruption with more supplements..
When I remember I am of a nigerian nationality, I have a feel of a psychological let down coming as regards the low self esteem my country exposes as regards life necessities and measures expressing the communal life lived in Nigeria.
"Pre-independence", "Independence", "post-independence" all representing different time lines in the history of Nigeria, yet the part of the world map with sovereignty, which postulates a highest degree of independent freedom has left the over exploited west african giant a place still ranked among 3rd world countries, under developed nations with deep sense of life and material insecurity accompanied with a long chain of failed goals that seized to fulfill a simple task of providing basic amenities for the citizenry.
I would have loved to put in details what I express as the under performance of the entity known as nigeria, but it would only be like saying "Money Is Good" or "Jesus is Lord". The ill-fated issues nigeria has been facing are everywhere, you can see misappropriation and instability in the vivid picture of the reality of a basic Nigerian survey. Ask history, go down memory lane, we have had more DOWNS than UPS, this is pitiable.
Writing this way is just how I feel. At 54, we are not so young like we may want to deceive ourselves as regards independence dates of countries like USA and others in Europe. Removing favoritism and sentiments through installing orderliness and merit systems is the way forward. The government controls, the people are the controlled, so let the controlling be of a positive influence on the mechanism of life satisfaction for the people of Nigeria.
Developing Nigeria is a task for all. A fool at 40 could be a fool forever if the fool forgets change is constant. So being a so-called fool forever could probably have a point where a U-TURN can be made, as long as the wheel of control's direction is targeted towards human development, then Nigeria can stop appearing embarrassing in accomplishment assessments.
Nigeria is a body made up of the government and the governed. Both parties having major roles to play in the mission of providing for a developed Nigeria. The name you give a dog it bears. The native chicken leaves the house in the morning and Is seen at almost every corner of the street. North in the morning, east by noon and who knows? South or west by evening.. The chicken acts without check, yet something cool happens at night, no one goes looking for the chicken, it just happens to come back home on its own.. This is where my anger with the government resides, the government should lead by example by doing things with due procedure by dedicating a sense of competence and hardwork to the image of life in Nigeria, am sure Nigerians would be glad to conform and follow up duly.
A study of a certain course "Civil service In Nigeria" I can close my eyes and say we have the structure and resources to direct Nigeria, though am not certain we have the people to this well. Dear Nigeria, my motherland and fellow Nigerians, my siblings. We have come to a place where our children and their children would call home someday, please let us put hands and build it today. If the last national conference did not result to a dissolution of this great state into nations of different ethnicity, then it means, regardless of our diversity, we still need to attain unity. It could also mean, that united we would stand but divided we would keep falling.
The powers that be in Nigeria should hear my cry today and please make equity and fairness to be an attribute of the state called NIGERIA. My late Grand father, Sir chief I.B Nwachuku was fond of saying, "There is always room at the top of the top" Nigeria, we can be at the top of the top.. All we need to do is BELIEVE! Happy 54th birthday NIGERIA.
